Magnify Dance Center shares its Artistic Director Wendy Miner with The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company, a pre-professional training company for dedicated young dancers. The Performers are best known for their quality production, Christmas Joy, which will be celebrating it's 35th season December, 2019!

This year The Performers will be premiering their first annual Spring Gala - Mother's Day weekend at the Natural Hispanic Cultural Center. 

The Spring Gala will showcase excerpts from classical ballets as well as new contemporary works similar to what professional ballet companies are doing in the concert dance world. You won't want to miss it!

The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company History


The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company is a non-profit, pre-professional dance company founded in 1981 by Karen Alwin. Ms. Alwin owned Alwin School of the Dance from 1975 till 2010 and continues to work at the studio.

Karen Alwin – Karen Alwin has taught dance for more than 40 years. She was the owner and founder of Alwin School of the Dance (1975-2010) and the founder of The Performers Ballet & Jazz Company. Ms. Alwin is a member of Dance Masters of America, Cecchetti Council of America, and Chicago National Dance Masters. Ms. Alwin holds a teacher’s certificate for Intermediate Professional grade for Cecchetti Method through Cecchetti Council of America. She takes great pride in the quality of this company’s productions and workshops and the training and experience the company offers both students and guests.

Auditions will take place at Magnify Dance Center on Sunday February 24, 2019

The Performers is gearing up for a brand new Spring Repertory Show in 2019!

With a strong focus on versatility, artistry, and professionalism, this new show will offer our dancers a new and exciting dance experience including Classical and Contemporary works featuring new choreography from renowned directors and choreographers as well as the classics.
